About
Masters of the Fly

Whether it’s casting to blitzing stripers off the iconic Montauk Point lighthouse, chasing tarpon on the flats in Flamingo, or stalking giant trout in the gin-clear waters of a Montana spring creek, fly fishing is our obsession. It invades our dreams. It disrupts our lives.

We are the masters of the fly - a group of like-minded, conservation-focused fly anglers, dedicated to supporting each other, and the broader fly-fishing community, by bringing us together to learn from each other, exchange ideas and stories, and fish together. Regardless of your skill level, your age, or your background, if fly fishing is your obsession too, you are a master of the fly.

Masters of the Fly was launched in early 2020 by Luyen Chou and Captain David Blinken as a series of virtual meetups at the beginning of a global pandemic. In early 2021, the Masters of the Fly Virtual Meetup series continues, starting with a presentation and discussion about the state of our striper fishery along the coastal Northeast in the United States.
